Paid education in English in the Czech Republic is offered in a limited range of the most popular specialties. In most areas in the Czech Republic, training is conducted only in the Czech language.

In the Czech Republic, there is no division into “budget” and “contract” forms of education. In public universities, everyone studies for free.

Higher education in Prague for foreigners will remain free

Periodically, there are speculations in the media that soon, education in the Czech Republic for citizens of countries outside the EU will become paid. The reason for such conversations is usually the initiatives of individual representatives of Czech parties.

At the same time, the position of the Czech Ministry of Education is unambiguous: foreigners in the Czech language should have the right to study on the same grounds as Czech citizens, that is, free of charge.

An important point: there are no age restrictions for free education in the Czech Republic. Studying in Czech is free for everyone – regardless of age and citizenship.

It doesn’t matter if you already received higher education in your country for free or not. In the Czech Republic, all those who have successfully passed the entrance exams study for free. Here you can get several free education – there are no restrictions in this regard.

When do you have to pay for studying in Prague?

Free education in Prague at all levels – in bachelor’s, masterโ€™s, and doctoral studies. At the same time, training is free during the standard period plus 1 year.

The standard term of study in a bachelor’s program is 3 or 4 years (depending on the specialty), in a master’s program (1.5-2 years), in a doctoral program (3-4 years).

If a student does not cope with the curriculum on time and extends his studies by more than a year, then he must pay for the extension of studies (from 20 to 50 thousand CZK per year, depending on the faculty and specialty). Students in Prague agree that studying here is difficult, but very interesting.
