EU visa after rejection – how to get?

European flag

First of all, you should calm down and remember that no consulate can refuse a visa without a substantial reason. Now a refusal stamp is not put in the passport, but a certificate is inserted into the document, which indicates the reason for the refusal. However, it can take experience to understand the meaning of the official phrase. And a Schengen visa after a refusal in most cases is opened in the same manner as usual.

MAIN REASONS FOR REFUSAL

The main reasons for visa refusal are the following:

  • Incorrectly completed visa application form.
  • Violations of law and order during visits to the Schengen countries.
  • The purpose of the planned trip is unclear.
  • The existence of reasonable presuppositions that the applicant has a purpose to circumvent entry or stay in the country.
  • The absence of a valid document that gives the right to cross the border, or the insufficient validity of such a document.
  • Lack of documents that confirm the purpose and conditions of stay in the country, or information in the documents is unclear or insufficient.
  • Lack of sufficient funds to stay in the country.

To be sure that the new Schengen visa will be opened after the refusal, it is necessary to understand the reason for the refusal and eliminate it. The most common denials are due to misunderstandings – the applicant may have forgotten to attach a document, or the consulates misunderstood some paper.

It happens that an employee of the company makes a mistake during the preparation of any certificate. For example, when printing the amount of the monthly certificate, it indicates “per year”, or simply makes a mistake with the date of travel. Or the inviting firm takes the previous invitation with the text โ€œwe are waiting for the CEO to sign important documentsโ€ and substitutes the applicant’s surname, forgetting to correct in the text that the applicant is a technician who must accept special equipment for the organization. In this case, the refusal will provide conflicting or inaccurate data.

Among the reasons there are โ€œdoubts that the applicant will leave the territory of the countryโ€ or โ€œthe purpose and conditions of stay are not clearโ€. In such cases, it is often used that the documents for applying for a visa were falsified, as a rule, this is a hotel booking, incorrectly issued certificates from the place of work, errors in bank statements, an unusual purpose of visiting the country, or insecure behavior during an interview.

If you tried to get through a visa through a travel agency but were refused, the employees did not tell you the reason for it and did not provide a written response from the consulate, this may indicate various reasons for the refusal – from falsification of documents by the company to the negligence of the company of employees who were preparing your package documents.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO APPLY FOR A VISA AFTER REFUSAL?

In 90% of cases, a Schengen visa can be opened almost immediately after refusal, if all the requirements of the consulate are met. Exceptions are the Swiss Consulate with one month quarantine and the Finnish consulate with quarantine issued individually for one to six months.

WHAT COUNTRY VISAS CAN I OBTAIN AFTER REFUSAL?

It doesn’t matter which consulate is denied you, if you were not notified that the Schengen visa after the refusal cannot be opened for a certain time, you can immediately apply for a new visa to the state where you plan to travel.

When you look for a visa again, you should not try to hide the fact of refusal on a previous request. Remember that consulates usually make inquiries to each other about the availability and reasons for refusals, therefore, after considering an application for a new visa, it may take several months for several months (if the consulate in Germany refused in Italy) up to one and a half (refusal was received from the consulate).

IS IT POSSIBLE TO APPLY FOR A SCHENGEN VISA AFTER REFUSAL BY COUNTRIES OUTSIDE THE SCHENGEN AREA?

Yes, a Schengen visa can be opened after refusal to obtain a visa to a non-Schengen country. When submitting a document, it is advisable to attach also a paper that indicates the reason for the refusal. However, in reality, the consulates of the Schengen countries do not pay attention to visa denials of non-Schengen countries, and vice versa.

HOW TO CONDUCT YOURSELF IN THE EMBASSY WHEN APPLYING FOR DOCUMENTS FOR A VISA AFTER REFUSAL?

Do not worry and think that at the interview you will be perceived as a suspicious person after learning that you have received a visa rejection. It is the responsibility of the consular officer to clarify the reason for the refusal. Don’t worry about the interview. Remember that a Schengen visa can be opened without problems in most cases after a refusal. Therefore, the fact of the previous refusal should not scare you. If you did not violate the laws during your stay in the Schengen countries, you have no debts and unpaid fines in European countries – you can count on getting a visa, like most other applicants.
