Tajikistan: getting an employment visa

Who can apply

The Tajikistan visa policy requires that nearly everyone who intends to enter the country must apply for a visa before traveling. Still, the Tajikistan government has enforced an eased operation process, enabling most ethnicities to get a visa entirely online.

Employers in Tajikistan must gain a visa from one of the Tajikistan diplomatic operations unless they come from one of the visa-free countries or countries whose citizens are eligible for an electronic visa or (at Dushanbe field) a visa on appearance.

Conditions to gain Work Visas

Any foreign citizen who plans to live and work in the Republic of Tajikistan will need to gain a working visa.  In addition to the working visa, foreign workers will also need to gain a work permit before they can officially begin their job. The conditions to gain a Tajikistan visa are as follows:

  • A passport that has at least two blank sheets and three months of validity.
  • A written employment contract with a company that is located in Tajikistan.
  • A letter of assignation from the aspirantโ€™s employer.

How to apply for an employment visa

A person can  apply for a visa in one of the below methods:

  1. Online, through the main official Tajikistan eVisa portal.
  2. At an Embassy or Consulate, if you aren’t eligible for the visa.

Applying for an eVisa

Rather than going directly to the delegacy or diplomatic charge of Tajikistan in their country of residency, foreign citizens should submit their operations to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs online. Aspirants should gather the supporting documents ahead of time, as theyโ€™ll need to upload documents with the operation.

You can apply for an e-visa through the main website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is an easier process, wherein you have to:

  • Complete the online operation form.
  • Pay the Tajikistan eVisa amount. The money is non-refundable.
  • Stay put for the visa to be published. This takes about two working days. You’ll get the Tajikistan eVisa in your dispatch.
  • Lastly, you will have to Print the visa and bring it with you when you travel.

After applying online, the aspirant will receive a mail with further instructions and an assignation to visit the Tajik delegation or consulate to submit their fingerprints, have a picture taken, and complete the operation process with an interview.

On the day of the appointment, the aspirant should bring their passport as well as their assignation letter and any other documents specified in the mail. They should also remain in their country of residency while staying for the applicable officers to authorize their visa operation.

Upon verification of the operation, the diplomatic officers will notify the aspirant so that they can return to the delegation to pick up the visa over with their passport. The aspirant will need to pay the visa amount at this time. After collecting the working visa, the worker can travel to Tajikistan.

Foreign workers will also need to gain a work permit before they can start working. In Tajikistan, the Migrant service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is responsible for the allocation of work permits.

Work permits

Work permits are a central concern for anybody aspiring to begin working in Tajikistan. However, applying for a work permit is easier because youโ€™ll get a โ€œ guarantorโ€ for your entire stay from your prospective employer If you’re a worker of your current company. The Tajik work permit entirely relies on this particular finance because it assures the government that youโ€™ll be earning funds throughout your stay.

Still, there are certain exceptional circumstances where work permit immunity is available to foreign enterprises. These can include those who share in the profitable investment, as well as representatives of large foreign companies who are contributing to development systems. In these circumstances, an investment visa is all thatโ€™s necessary, and there’s no fresh need for a permit.

Other Important Considerations

In Tajikistan, working visas are valid for an original period of not more than three months. Once those three months pass, foreign workers can get a visa extension based on their work permit.
