Based on the origin of your country, visiting Costa Rica may not be as easy as reserving a flight ticket. Various states are needed to apply for a visa before they’re permitted to enter the country.

The type of visa needed to travel

If you want to visit the country to see the jungle or the beaches, you may find yourself in need of a Costa Rica tourist visa. This type of visa is frequently pertained to as a travel visa, due to the nature of Costa Rica visas.

Who can apply for a Visa

It is split into four groups:

  1. Visa-excluded citizens are allowed to travel to Costa Rica with just their passport, which must be valid for at least one further day from the date of entry. This order included citizens of the United States and European Union member countries. They’re allowed to stay in the country for outside of 90 days.
  2. Visa-excluded citizens are allowed to travel to Costa Rica with just their passport, which must be valid for at least three months from the date of appearance. They’re allowed to stay in not more than 30 days.
  3. Foreign citizens who need a Consular Visa, which must be applied for at a Costa Rica consulate in their country of dwelling.
  4. Foreign Citizens who need a Restricted Visa. This type of visa has to be approved by the Commission of Confined Visas. However, it allows the holder to stay in the country for over 30 days If approved.

Costa Rica Visa conditions

 The needed documents you have to submit with your Costa Rica visa operation are:

  • An operation letter, directed to the consulate, containing,
  • The purpose of your trip,
  • Your particular information (name, age, date, and place of birth),
  • Passport number,
  • Nation,
  • Place of dwelling,
  • Intended date of appearance and departure from Costa Rica,
  • The date,
  • Contact information,
  • A complete photocopy of all the papers on your passport. Your passport must be valid for more than six months,
  • Return flight ticket reservation. You’re advised not to pay for your ticket until your visa operation has been approved,
  • Two photos of yourself with the following specification:
    • White background,
    • Neutral facial expression, gaping straight ahead.
    • Spectacles are allowed as long as they don’t hide your eyes or face (no thick skirtings, no reflection, no tinted glass).
    • The hat isn’t allowed unless it’s for religious purposes. Indeed so, it mustn’t obstruct the face.
  • Evidence of sufficient financial means, similar as bank statements from the last three months, a letter from the employer, or evidence of property,
  • Certificate of police concurrence from your country.
  • Evidence of Unheroic Fever Vaccination if you’re coming from a place that’s at threat of Unheroic Fever,
  • If you’re a visa holder or a permanent resident in another country Evidence of the visa/ Residence Permit should be submitted.

The documents you submit must be restated into Spanish and legitimate.

How to Apply

The Costa Rica visa operation process differs depending on the type of visa you need, a Consular Visa or a Restricted Visa.

Duration of getting a visa

The Costa Rica visa processing time is about 30 days. The visa amount is US $52. You have to pay for a Costa Rica visa amount after your visa has been approved. The visa amount is non-refundable indeed if you aren’t allowed entry upon your appearance in Costa Rica.

The consulate you’re applying to will inform you of the payment system. Occasionally you may have to make the payment at a delegacy, as consulates may not accept payments.

You are supposed to present a receipt for the Costa Rica visa amount payment. After you get a Costa Rica visa, you’ll still be subject to immigration control at the Costa Rica point of entry. However, they will stamp your passport with the decision.

Duration of your stay  with a tourist Visa

The tourist visa is valid for not more than 30 days, but it may be issued for lower. Still, you can request a visa extension at the Directorate General of Immigration in Costa Rica, if you need to stay in the country for a longer period.
